mission

To serve seriously good coffee for everyone, everywhere.

At 2nd Rule Coffee, we are deeply obsessed with distilling the complexity of coffee into an experience that is approachable, accessible and above all, enjoyable.

VALUES

We hold a deep regard for people and champion authenticity, connection, and wellness.

Craft coffee, while a beverage that is spirit-free, is exceptional in fostering these values. It’s what makes us so spirited about engaging our mobile coffee cart as the perfect vessel for all of life’s celebrations and occasions.

Our philosophy in using organic and locally sourced ingredients backs our belief that what you take in your body & mind should be good for you too.

VISION

We are driven by the belief that specialty coffee is for everyone, everywhere— irrespective of class or creed. When we surprise people with extraordinary brews in unexpected places in their lives (geographically and personally), we’re doing our job. When we share our knowledge with the novice drinker to the home-enthusiast, and their delight in coffee has elevated or expanded, we are leaving the impact that we want.

the name

In a mash-up between the Second Greatest Commandment found in the Bible and the classic Golden Rule, the name 2nd Rule was born.

Mark 12:31 (ASV) The SECOND is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Golden RULE Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

It’s a principle, philosophy, and way of life and business for us.

the fist bump

I (Carol) was inspired by the fist bump as I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2018. The fist bump is part of the customary handshake exchanged between athletes before a grapple.

Wherever you go in the world to practice this sport, the fist bump is a universally understood pact. It represents camaraderie and a determination to challenge, look out for, and honor our partner whether we know them intimately or just for the roll of the moment.

I see it the same way in our affair with coffee. We have great company to share it with. A dear someone time and time again, or a stranger with whom we experience just the hour. Jiu jitsu, along with coffee, are two of life’s purest pleasures that have found me.
